Cadets will use the Cadet GP Rifle mainly, which is a modified SA80 that the regular Army use. Its modifications
are that it has an extended cocking handle, it is not automatic and it is fitted with the iron sights, not the SUSAT. The
rifle takes 5.56mm rounds, and each magasine can fit in 30 of these.
Cadets will also get the opportunity to fire the 0.22 cal rifle on the school range and the 7.62mm target rifle on camps.
We take part in numerous Skill At Arms Meetings throughout the year, which are mostly on the Cadet GP rifle, and some
of our cadets achieve a lot at these competitions.
Below are some pictures of the rifle.
